we thought we were in the ark ...

we had an incredible storm today. the thunder lasted longer than i have ever heard it in my life! this is the water rushing down our driveway. thank God our house is about 8 inches above the ground, otherwise, we would have had very wet floors.

there were areas in toronto where the water was three feet high! wow.

what's going on??

i don't know how clearly you can see this, but it is a piggy bank that stands at least 5" high and it is well under water. this is at my front door!

Holy Cow, Carolyn! Looks like you got in one storm what we got in three. I just went out and emptied and entire wheelbarrel full of water from the storms of the past few days in the Midwest.

Hope the piggy bank wasn't a fatality!

yup, it was over half the normal rainfall in august .. all in about 1 hour! i've never seen anything like it.

thank heavens, the piggy bank is ok ... at least so far, it makes a cute little decoration at the front door. several of the pots (we have about 150!) were pushed to the back of the property, along with almost all the concrete and stained glass stepping stones and pea gravel!

Wow, that's incredible. A lot of power in running water that deep, too. Good thing no one was out doors!

Goodness! that's amazing! I mean, I live in rainy ole England and fortunatley, I've never been flooded yet. Hope no one got hurt in your area. News reports over here were saying that there had been four deaths as a result of hurricane Katrina (I think that was the name)...were you maybe getting the tail end of the storm?

God Bless.
